TESL Application

Requirements

All students who enter the TESL program must have a Bachelor's degree. In addition, students who do not speak English as their native language must also prove English proficiency. A TOEFL score of 580 (paper-based), 237 (CBT) or (90 iBT) is required. In addition to the standardized scores demonstrating language proficiency, all candidates whose native language is other than English may be required to have an interview exam administered by a TESL Program administrator. For students without the required English Proficiency, WAL offers an Intensive English Program that is open for enrollment every five weeks.

US Citizens & Residents

If you hold a bachelor's degree and would like to join our teacher training classes, welcome!  You will need a credit card (MASTER CARD or VISA only) to complete your registration. You must complete a separate registration form for each individual course.

International Students and Non-residents

International students are welcome to join the WAL graduate TESL program. A recognized specialist in the field teaches each class. In class, emphasis is placed on the practical aspects of teaching. You will acquire hands-on experience using contemporary instruction methods. Courses also feature guest lecturers who are recognized authorities in the field.

You must all send a certificate of bank balance from your bank or from your family's bank account showing sufficient funds for study and living for the period of your intended stay. Click here for information on the SEVIS fee requirements for students with F-1 visas.

Online Course Registration

Registration Deadline: The online registration deadline is 14 days (two weeks) prior to the first day of the course.

PLEASE NOTE: The SPU registration form must be completed and returned to WAL (Not Seattle Pacific University!!) by the registration deadline. The WAL registration office will supply you with an SPU form via email attachment upon receipt of your registration OR you can download an SPU registration form from the link below. The SPU credit fee PER COURSE is $180.00.

Online Materials

You will be charged for the required course materials at the time of your registration for your online course.

Shipping

There is a shipping charge for students wishing to have online materials shipped to them. Out-of-country shipping is provided at a higher fee. This charge will be added to the cost of materials at the time of registration. Shipping time varies. Out-of-country shipping typically requires 7 to 12 days. If you would like to arrange for special shipping options, please notify WAL at the time of your registration
